Chris Nelson earned her undergraduate degree at Duke University and her MFA at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in Dramatic Writing.

She was recently awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts for her graphic novel THE VERY LAST ROLLER COASTER RIDE, as well as the Frank Nelson Doubleday Fellowship for THE CHURCH OF LAST RESORT. She has been recognized with the Reynolds Price Award, two Benenson Awards, and residency grants from the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation of New Mexico in Taos, NM, the Jentel Artist Residency Program in Banner, WY, and the Julia and David White Artists’ Colony in Ciudad Colón, Costa Rica.  

Chris lives in NYC.
